Latino Review has reported some news on the future Star Wars Han Solo anthology movie. Of all the Star Wars spin off movies, this is probably the most awaited one. Fans have been waiting for more details on this movie; what age is Han Solo going to be in the movie? Will the Millennium Falcon make an appearance? Will other Star Wars characters make cameos? We have some answers for you.
The movie will focus on how Han Solo became the half-witted, scruffy-looking nerf herder smuggler that we got to meet in A New Hope. This is Lawrence Kasdan's description of his ideas for the movie. "It will not be here’s where he was born and this is how he was raised. I think what it will be is, what was he like 10 years earlier, maybe a little earlier, you’ll get a glimpse. But Kurosawa once said the heroes are the ones that are still changing and the villains are locked and petrified into what they are. And Harrison embodies in 'Force Awakens' someone who is still not settled on who he is." If the backstory created for the character in previous stories is followed, he might not even know Chewbacca at this point, nor will he have the Falcon with him. Han Solo's background (established before Lucas sold the franchise to Disney) tells us a story of a young aspiring officer in service of the Empire. This changes when he decides to help free the Wookies from slavery. This is how he gets to become best friends with Chewie (who has a life debt with him for saving his people). There has been nothing released about how much of this story line they are going to use, but if he becomes a smuggler 10 years before A New Hope, this means this "Imperial Officer" story is non-cannon now. We also have to consider that having other characters form the original trilogy in the movie, besides Chewie, would be contrived and just for the sake of attracting viewers. So most likely, there won't be any cameos. They haven't yet selected the actor who is going to play young Han Solo. The only detail we have so far is that they are looking for someone in their late-teens or early-twenties to play the role. The movie is being written by Lawrence Kasdan and directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Read our previous article for the release date. |
