Cinemablend has a good article that talks about J. J. Abrams and Adam Driver's segments of a press conference held in Los Angeles earlier today.
J. J. Abrams said to the panel that they were trying to do things differently (with the movie villain). Lawrence Kasdan explained Kylo Ren's role in the movie: "That’s why we were so excited about Adam playing this part (Kylo Ren). There’s never been a character like Kylo in the saga. And no, he hasn’t got all of his shit together – I would say. And Adam acts it so beautifully, because when you’re looking at him you expect, ‘Oh, this is some evil genius,’ but what you’re getting is all the contradictions and conflict that people feel – that anyone of us could feel at any moment. That’s what’s so amazing about him, and that’s what unique about what Adam has done."
We are definitely not dealing with Darth Vader and the Empire in this new saga. But this might make the First Order a bit unpredictable and therefore more dangerous.
We know that Kylo Ren doesn't see himself as the villain here. Contrary to Darth Vader and the Emperor in their quest for power through hate and anger. You can read a little more about how the First Order and Kylo Ren might have gotten to power in our previous article. |
