Only 10 days to go and the fan theories about Episode VII keep appearing online. The Star Wars franchise has killed many of its characters during its run. The death of these characters has always served as a way of putting heroes or villains on the right path to fulfill their destiny. Uncle Owen & Aunt Beru, Obi Wan Kenobi, Yoda, Qui-Gon Jin, Shmi Skywalker, Mace Windu, etc. Even The death of Darth Vader seems to have had an effect on Kylo Ren's destiny.
The image above has been the focus of speculation. It seems like Rey is crying over someone's dead body. Or maybe J. J. Abrams just wants us to think that. Scroll down to see the top 6 theories on who will bite the dust in this new Star Wars movie. If we were to believe that the image in question is actually Rey crying over someone dying, then we can conclude that it is in the same scene were Finn and Kylo Ren are having a lightsaber duel on the planet holding the Starkiller base. That's the idea supporting the theory that either Finn or Han die in this movie.

#1 Finn
Finn might have training in the use of a lightsaber, but he is no Jedi. Fighting a force user like Kylo Ren might require more than some fancy lightsaber moves. Is Rey crying over Finn's dead body? The likelyhood of this happening is low. After all, this new movie is about introducing new characters, not killing them. But, who knows, it could happen as a big plot devise to send Rey down her Jedi path. One more piece of information that supports this theory is Harrison Ford's Tweet about a lightsaber duel Between Kylo Ren and Rey. Does she pick up the lightsaber after Finn is stricken down? But, that doesn't necessarily mean that Finn is dead; he could be only hurt, right?

#2 Han Solo
When rumors about the plot of The Force Awakens started emerging, one of the first rumors was about Han Solo meeting his demise at the hands of Kylo Ren. We all know that Harrison Ford asked for Han Solo to be killed in Return of the Jedi. Does he, after all these years, still hold that death wish for his character? Does Han get killed by Kylo Ren while aiding Finn in his fight? Or maybe he dies trying to sabotage the Starkiller base's main weapon. We have also discussed, in a previous article, the possible similarities between this movie and the original trilogy. We talked about how Han Solo has the same role Obi-Wan Kenobi had in A New Hope. If this is true, it makes sense for him to die aiding our heroes. One last piece that supports the theory of Han dying is the image below. When fans saw it, they immediately thought that the grim expression on Rey and Chewie's faces is because Han is dead.

#3 Rey's parents
We know that Rey was left on Jakku by her parents, and that she's waiting for them to return. People are speculating about who they could be. Are they Han and Leia? Or maybe just one of them with another minor or unknown character? is Luke Skywalker her father? Is she a descendant of Obi Wan Kenobi? Is she Kylo's twin sister? Was she left on Jakku by her parents or maybe by somebody else? Or, what if her parents aren't of actual importance to the overall plot? They could be like Shmi Skywalker or Uncle Owen & aunt Beru whose deaths are the beginning of our heroes' (or villain's) real path to their destiny. Since the death of the hero's parents is a recurrent theme in the Star Wars saga, this idea is not to far fetched.

#4 Kylo Ren
Kylo must be the villain of Episode VII, but he is not the mastermind behind the First Order. We have Supreme Leader Snoke to thank for that. And let's face it, we don't know anything about him. What if he has a Sith type of mind in which he needs to have an apprentice and already has a candidate in case of Kylo's death? What if Kylo is more of an Inquisitor (as seen in Star Wars Rebels) and the real apprentice is yet to be revealed. After all, Darth Maul and Count Dooku were merely tools until a much more worthy apprentice was ready.

#5 General Leia Organa
This is probably the least discussed theory since she doesn't see much action in this movie. But let's remember that the First Order has a Death Star sort of weapon. Maybe General Organa's base gets blown into pieces before the Resistance can destroy the Starkiller base. As we discussed in a previous article, it seems that Leia and Han are saying their goodbyes in the picture shown above. #6 Other minor fan theories For others Chewbacca is also a good candidate to die in this movie, but it wouldn't add much to the plot. It would be more of a goodbye to the character. Let's remember that Chewbacca died in the (previously considered canon) novel Vector Prime. You can read all about that here. One final candidate that could meet their demise in this movie is Maz Kanata. She seems to be like a spiritual guide of some sort that will be introduced in the movie, and seems to be talking to Rey. But they have gone through so much to create this character that seems a waste to kill her after just a few lines. There were rumors that the screen time this character was supposed to have was reduced because of Lupita Nyong's problems working with motion captured CGI, but J. J. Abrams has later dismissed this as merely rumors. Ultimately, this new trilogy is about passing the torch to a new generation, so expect to see all (or most) of the original heroes bite the dust at some point or another during the course of the next three episodes.
